Why this matters
Many beginners give up after one disappointing answer. People who get good results treat the assistant like a conversation: they react to the first draft, say what to change and keep going until it is right. This is faster than writing a perfect prompt from scratch, and it is how real AI assisted work is usually done.
Techniques that work
1. Give specific feedback. "Make it better" is weak. Say exactly what to change:
- "Make it shorter, under 40 words."
- "The tone is too formal. Make it warm, like a message to a regular customer."
- "Remove the second paragraph and add the price."
- "Use simpler words; my readers are new to smartphones."
2. Show an example. If you have a message or post you like, paste it and say "Write in a similar style to this example." Showing is often clearer than describing. Giving one or two examples like this is sometimes called few shot prompting.
3. Break big jobs into steps. Instead of "Write my whole business plan", go step by step: first ask for an outline, then work on one section at a time, checking each before moving on. Smaller steps give better quality and make mistakes easier to spot.
4. Ask for options. "Give me three different headlines" lets you choose and combine the best parts.
5. Ask it to check itself. "Review your answer. List anything that might be wrong or that I should verify." This does not replace your own checking, but it can point to weak spots.
