Almost every business in Ghana needs someone who can sell. An internet provider needs people to sign up shops and homes. A seed and fertiliser company needs people to reach farmers and agro dealers. A software company needs people to book demos with schools and clinics. A food manufacturer needs people to get its products onto supermarket shelves. Sales is one of the biggest categories on Ghanaian job boards, and many of the roles accept school leavers and graduates who can show the right habits.
What digital sales means
Selling used to mean walking from door to door. It still sometimes does, but today much of the work happens on a phone or a computer. You find possible customers online and through referrals, you contact them by call, WhatsApp or email, you keep track of every conversation in a simple system, and you agree payment by bank transfer or mobile money. This track teaches that modern way of selling, for an employer or a client.
It is different from running your own online shop and different from marketing. Marketing makes many people aware of a product at once. Selling is the one to one work of turning a single interested person or business into a paying customer, and then keeping them.
What this first section covers
- How selling works. Selling to individuals versus selling to businesses, the job titles you will meet, and the steps a lead passes through before it becomes a sale.
- Knowing your product and your customer. Why people buy, and how to describe value in plain words.
