At the end of each week, most sales managers ask the same questions: What did you sell? What is coming? Where are deals stuck? A clear weekly report answers them in a minute. Sales adverts often mention reporting and targets, and being able to build a tidy report in a spreadsheet makes you stand out.
What a weekly sales report shows
Keep it short. A useful report covers:
- Activity: calls made, messages sent, meetings or demos held.
- Results: deals won this week, their value in cedis, and money collected.
- Pipeline: number and value of open deals at each stage.
- Against target: how the month so far compares with your target.
- Overdue follow ups: deals whose next action date has passed.
- Notes: one or two lines on what is working, what is not, and any help you need.
Building it in a spreadsheet
Use Google Sheets (free in a browser or app) or Excel. Start with a deals table, one row per deal, with columns such as:
- Deal name, Customer, Stage, Value (cedis), Expected close date, Next action, Next action date, Owner
Then add a summary area.
Totals. Use formulas so numbers update automatically:
