Forms are where users sign up, place orders and pay. They are also where users give up. A form that is easy to complete on a cheap phone, with a weak connection, is valuable work, and fintech and ecommerce teams in Ghana build them constantly.
The basics: label every field
Every input needs a visible label linked to it:
<label for="phone">Phone number</label>
<input id="phone" name="phone" type="tel"
autocomplete="tel" required>The for and id match, so tapping the label focuses the field, and screen readers announce "Phone number". Never rely on placeholder text as the only label; it disappears as soon as someone types.
The right keyboard
On phones, the input type decides which keyboard appears:
type="tel"shows a number pad for phone numbers.type="email"adds the @ key.
