Moving graphics catch the eye on WhatsApp Status, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook far more than still images. Agencies and multimedia roles in Ghana often ask designers to create simple animation alongside static designs, and even local businesses like a short animated price announcement. This lesson is optional, but it is a useful extra skill once your static design is solid.
What motion graphics are
Motion graphics are designs that move: a headline that slides in, a logo that fades up, a price that pops, icons that appear one by one. They are different from filming video. You are animating the same text, shapes and images you already design with.
Key ideas
- Keyframes. You set how something looks at one moment, such as off screen, and how it looks at a later moment, such as in the centre. The software fills in the movement between them.
- Timing. Fast movement feels energetic; slow movement feels calm. Match the mood of the brand.
- Easing. Real objects speed up and slow down. Movement that eases in and out looks natural; constant speed looks mechanical.
- Readability. Text must stay on screen long enough to read comfortably. A good habit is to leave each line up long enough to read it twice.
- Restraint. Animate a few things with purpose. If everything moves, nothing stands out.
