Short vertical video is one of the most common demands in the content adverts we studied, both Ghanaian and remote: TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts. Some adverts go further and ask for live streaming, including people who can sell products live. WhatsApp Status videos are the local cousin of this format and often drive real orders.
What makes short video work
- Vertical, full screen. Film and export in 9:16 so the video fills the phone.
- Hook in the first second or two. Start with movement, a question, the result or a surprising image. No slow logos.
- One idea per video. One tip, one product, one moment. If you have three tips, consider three videos.
- Fast, clean pacing. Change shots often, cut pauses, use on screen text.
- Loop friendly endings. If the end flows back into the start, people may watch twice.
- Clear call to action. Follow for more, order on WhatsApp, comment your town.

Trends, carefully
