Businesses that post only when they remember look unreliable. A content calendar fixes that. It is a simple plan of what to post, where and when, made a few weeks ahead. Agencies and in house teams in Ghana use calendars to agree work with clients and managers before anything goes live. If you can build and keep one, you show that you are organised, which employers value as much as creativity.
What goes in a calendar
A basic calendar is a table with one row per post:
- Date and time. When it goes out.
- Channel. WhatsApp Status, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, email.
- Format. Caption with photo, graphic, video, live.
- Topic and job. What it is about and whether it shows, helps, proves or asks.
- Caption draft. The words, written in advance.
- Status. Idea, drafted, approved, posted.
Google Sheets works well. It is free, opens on a phone or a computer, and you can share it with a client so they can approve posts with a comment.
Plan around real life
The best calendars follow the rhythm of the customers' lives:
- Market days in the town, when people have cash and are out buying.
