On WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, people decide in a second whether to stop scrolling. A clear photo or a clean graphic is often what makes them stop. Some Ghanaian adverts for marketing assistants and interns name Canva and similar design tools. You do not need a camera or paid software to meet that bar. You need daylight, a steady hand and a few simple rules.
Product photos on a phone
- Use daylight. Stand near a window or under a shade tree, out of harsh direct sun. Avoid the phone flash, which makes products look flat and shiny.
- Clean background. A plain wall, a cloth or a sheet of paper. Remove clutter so the product is the only thing to look at.
- Wipe the lens. Phones live in pockets. A quick wipe makes photos sharper instantly.
- Fill the frame. Get close so the product takes up most of the picture. Show a hand or a common object for size, such as a basket next to a chair.
- Take several. Shoot from the front, the side and up close on details like weaving or a label. Pick the best.
Simple graphics
Free design apps such as Canva offer templates for posts, Status images and flyers. Use them, but keep it simple:
- One message per graphic. A church harvest flyer needs the event, date, time, place and a contact. Not five paragraphs.
- Large, readable text with strong contrast, such as dark text on a light background.
