The week 7 assignment asks you to set up a mock campaign with a defined audience and budget. This lesson completes that picture: how to set a budget and schedule in cedis, and how to test ads so each cedi teaches you something.
Daily or lifetime budget
- Daily budget: an average amount to spend each day. Platforms may spend a little more on some days and less on others while keeping close to the average over time. Check the platform's current rules in its help pages.
- Lifetime budget: a total for the whole campaign, spread across set dates. Useful for a short promotion with a clear end, such as a Ramadan or Christmas offer.
Ads are usually paid to the platform by card. Some businesses use a virtual card linked to mobile money or a bank account. Agree the maximum spend in writing with the owner before anything runs. You are spending someone else's money, so treat it with care.
How much is enough?
There is no fixed right number. Begin with an amount the owner can afford to lose while learning. Run it for several days before judging, because one day of results is too little to trust. Platforms also need some time to learn who responds, so constant changes slow them down.
Scheduling
Think about when customers are ready. A lunchtime chop bar offer works in the morning. An offer for church outfits makes sense in the week before a big service. If you run messaging ads, make sure someone can answer WhatsApp quickly during the hours the ads run.
