The Delta Mentoring Program runs for twelve weeks, with assignments every week. Employers also want people who keep learning new systems and tools on the job. The skill underneath both is the same: steady study habits. Talent helps, but habits are what get people to the end of a course.
Set a small daily goal
Big goals like "learn digital marketing" are hard to start. Small goals are easy to start and easy to finish:
- "Read one lesson today."
- "Do fifteen minutes of typing."
- "Finish one practice task."
Finishing a small goal every day builds confidence. If you miss a day, do not give up. Just start again the next day.
Pick a regular time and place
Your brain likes routine. Choose a time that usually works, such as after morning chores or after evening prayers, and study then. Find the quietest place you can. Put your phone on Do not disturb so notifications do not pull you away.
Take notes in your own words
Copying a lesson word for word does not help much. After reading a section, close it and write down:
- The main idea in one or two sentences.
- One example.
- One question you still have.
A simple notebook works perfectly. Writing in your own words, in English or mixed with your own language, shows you what you have really understood.
Test yourself
Reading your notes again feels productive, but testing yourself works better. Take the quiz at the end of each lesson. Cover your notes and try to explain the idea out loud. Come back to a topic a few days later and check you still remember it.
