Why this matters
Excel and Power BI skills are not a single job title. They are useful across many roles, which gives you options. Knowing where these skills fit, what employers expect alongside them, and what to learn next helps you aim your applications and keep growing.
Roles that use these skills
When you read Ghanaian and remote job adverts, look for titles such as:
- Data entry officer, data clerk or data capturer: accurate entry, validation, basic summaries.
- Administrative or office assistant: registers, schedules, simple reports.
- Accounts assistant or accounts officer: reconciliations, budgets, PivotTables and lookups, alongside accounting knowledge.
- MIS officer or assistant: collecting data from branches or programmes, dashboards, KPI tracking.
- Monitoring and evaluation (M&E or MEL) assistant or officer: survey data from tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK, cleaning, indicators, donor reports.
- Reporting analyst or junior business intelligence analyst: Power BI dashboards, often with SQL.
- Freelance reporting support for small businesses and remote clients.
Read each advert for the tools it names and the sector knowledge it expects. Many ask for a degree or diploma and some experience; volunteering and portfolio projects are how you start building that experience.
