Some shops and brands in Ghana sell through live streams on Facebook and TikTok. A host shows products one by one, answers questions as they come in and takes orders in real time. Some companies now advertise for live selling hosts or officers. For a page manager, running a live session is a service you can offer, but it only works with careful planning and, above all, careful follow up.
This lesson covers running the live session for a client. For camera, sound and framing skills, see the Video and Content Creation track.
Before you go live
- Check eligibility. Facebook Pages can go live from the app or from a computer. TikTok LIVE requires the account holder to be at least eighteen, and other requirements, such as followers, vary by region and change, so check the account in the app well before the date.
- Announce it. Post a day or two ahead and again an hour before: date, time, what will be shown and how to order.
- Prepare a run sheet. A simple list of products in order, with price, sizes or colours, stock count and one thing to say about each.
- Set the payment and order rules. Orders are confirmed only through the client's official number or inbox. Payment goes only to the client's official MoMo or account. Say this on screen and in the comments.
- Test. Check the connection, light and sound with a short private test if the platform allows, or a test call. A charged device and stable data or Wi Fi are essential.
