Why it matters
A single well documented project that you built, ran and tore down says more to an employer than a list of certificates. It gives interviewers something real to ask about, and it gives you real stories to tell. This lesson brings every part of the track together into one portfolio project.
The project
Build one small app end to end. Keep the app itself simple so your effort goes into the infrastructure: a static page for a local business (a Tamale tailor, a Bolgatanga basket weaving cooperative, a Wa pharmacy), or a small API from the backend track if you have one.
Your project should include:
- Git: a public repository with a protected main branch, pull requests and version tags.
- CI: a GitHub Actions workflow that tests every change and blocks broken ones.
- Container: a Dockerfile, built by the pipeline.
- Infrastructure as code: Terraform or OpenTofu files. Using the
localprovider is fine; if you have a cloud account that cannot bill you, you may describe a real resource, as long as you destroy it. - Monitoring: your health check script, or an uptime check, with an alert you have designed.
- Safety: secrets kept out of code, a and a .
