Why this section matters
Cloud and DevOps employers are trusting you with the systems that hold their customers' money and data. They want evidence that you can build something, run it and fix it, not just a list of courses watched. This section turns everything you have practised into that evidence and points you towards realistic first steps.
What employers look for
From the Ghanaian and remote adverts we read, three kinds of proof stand out:
- Hands on experience: something you built and ran, with a pipeline, containers, infrastructure as code and monitoring. Experience can come from a job, an internship, national service or a serious personal project.
- A recognised baseline: some adverts ask for a cloud certification or a degree. A fundamentals certification is a common first one.
- Clear communication: documentation, incident write ups and the ability to explain a technical choice to a manager. Adverts mention documentation and teamwork alongside the technical skills.
What this section covers
- Cloud certifications. What the entry level exams test, how to prepare for free, and why a certificate supports hands on work rather than replacing it.
- A cloud portfolio project. One small app taken end to end, documented clearly and torn down so it costs nothing.
