Why this matters
Security roles in Ghana are concentrated in banks, telcos, fintechs, audit firms, managed security providers and government bodies, mostly in Accra, with some IT roles in regional offices. Remote roles exist, but many are restricted to certain countries. A clear portfolio and a focused search help you stand out wherever you apply.
Build a simple portfolio
Choose your best five or six pieces from this track and present them neatly:
- A phishing analysis of real or invented messages.
- Triage notes for several alerts.
- An incident response playbook for one scenario.
- A vulnerability prioritisation table.
- A lab write up with screenshots.
- An awareness talk you delivered, with a reflection.
Host them in a free Google Drive folder with view only sharing, or on a free GitHub repository as Markdown files. Remove all real names, numbers, passwords and anything from a real employer. Never publish details of a real organisation's weaknesses.
Write a security focused CV
- Lead with relevant skills: networking, Windows and Linux, log analysis, phishing analysis, incident documentation, security awareness.
