Why this matters
Good skills still need a good search. Data work in Ghana is spread across many job titles and many kinds of employer, and the best openings are not always on the biggest job boards. A focused search, tailored applications and preparation for practical tests make a real difference.
Where to look
- Job boards such as Jobberman and GhanaJob list analyst, data entry, M&E and reporting roles. Set up alerts for words like data, M&E, MEAL, reporting and Excel, not just "data analyst".
- NGO and research career pages. Many international and local NGOs in Tamale, Bolgatanga and Wa post M&E and enumerator roles on their own websites and on NGO job sites.
- Government programmes sometimes recruit data assistants and enumerators for surveys and registries.
- Remote job boards list junior analyst roles open to applicants in Africa. Read the location rules carefully.
- Your network. Mentors, lecturers, former supervisors and WhatsApp groups often hear about short contracts first.
Read the advert like an analyst
Before applying, list the skills the advert asks for and match each to evidence you have. Lead with the matches. If an advert asks for SPSS or Stata and you know Python or R, say so honestly and show that you can learn new tools. Many adverts list wishes, not strict rules; if you meet most of the core requirements, apply.
