Money causes more fights between marketers and clients than anything else. Who paid the platform? Why did the card get charged more than expected? What did the money achieve? If you handle budgets clearly and keep good records, clients trust you with bigger campaigns. Senior adverts in Ghana list budget management as a core duty, and it starts with habits you can build now.
Two different costs
Always separate:
- Ad spend. The money paid to the platform, such as Meta or Google, to show ads.
- Your fee. What the client pays you for planning, creating and managing the work.
Write both down in your agreement. Clients should never be surprised by either.
Who pays the platform
The safest arrangement is that the client adds their own payment method to their own ad account and gives you access to manage it. That way you never hold the client's money, every charge appears in their records, and if you stop working together they keep the account and its history. If you ever do pay on a client's behalf, get the money first, keep every receipt and agree it in writing.
Platforms bill in different ways, and the accepted payment methods and currencies for Ghana change over time. Some charge a card in another currency, so the cost in cedis depends on the exchange rate and bank charges on the day. Check the platform's billing help and tell the client this in advance.
