Sales is one of the most open doors into work in Ghana. Many employers hire school leavers, diploma holders and graduates from any subject into sales, telesales and business development roles, and train them on the product. What they need to see is evidence that you can talk to people, stay organised and keep going when it is hard. This section helps you show that evidence and find your first role.
What employers look for
Across entry level sales adverts, the same qualities appear again and again:
- Communication. Clear speaking on the phone and clear writing on WhatsApp and email.
- Confidence with people. Comfort starting conversations with strangers, politely.
- Organisation. Keeping track of leads and follow ups, often in a CRM or spreadsheet.
- Resilience. Handling rejection and working towards targets.
- Honesty. Employers do not want sellers who will damage their reputation.
- Basic digital skills. Using a smartphone, WhatsApp Business, email and a spreadsheet confidently.
- Languages. English plus local languages are often a plus, especially for field and telesales roles.
Proof beats claims
