Why this section matters
Design hiring is about proof. Employers in Ghana and remote teams cannot see your skills on a certificate. They want to see how you think: how you learned about users, what problems you found, what options you tried and why you chose one. A portfolio of honest case studies does that better than anything else. Many junior adverts ask for a portfolio, often alongside a CV and sometimes a cover letter.
What this section covers
- Case study portfolio. How to write two or three case studies that show your process from research to final design, and the reasons behind your decisions.
- Freelancing for local businesses (optional). How to find small paid projects with shops, NGOs, schools and churches near you, agree the scope and get paid fairly.
- Job search and design interviews. Where junior design jobs are, how to apply, how to present a case study in a short interview and how to handle a design exercise.
Where design jobs are
Junior and entry level design work in Ghana and for Ghanaian designers tends to come from:
- Fintech and mobile money companies, which need clear, trustworthy flows
- Digital agencies in Accra and Kumasi that design for many clients
- Startups in health, agriculture, education and logistics
