Inbox, calendar and documents are the core of assistant work, but clients often hand over more. Remote adverts list customer support, social media management, order processing and project coordination alongside admin. Ghanaian adverts ask front desk and office assistants to handle customer enquiries and keep records. This section covers three of the most common extra tasks at a beginner level.
Why learn these
Each extra task you can do well makes you more useful to a small business owner who cannot afford separate staff for everything. A shop owner in Tamale might want one person who answers WhatsApp enquiries, schedules a few Facebook posts each week and keeps a task list up to date. A remote client might want the same. Being able to say "yes, I can handle that" opens more doors.
At the same time, you do not have to be an expert in everything. Doing these tasks reliably at a basic level is enough to start. If you enjoy one of them, you can go deeper later. SydCrest's digital marketing track goes deeper on social media, for example.
What this section covers
- Customer support basics. Answering customer questions by email, chat and phone, recording every case and knowing when to pass a problem to the client.
- Social media scheduling. Planning a simple content calendar, scheduling posts in advance with free tools and reporting back.
- Task lists, tools and written procedures. Keeping a shared task board so the client sees progress, and writing step by step procedures for repeated tasks.
