Many small businesses know they should post regularly but never find the time. Remote VA adverts often list social media management, and Ghanaian freelance assistants commonly offer content scheduling. Scheduling posts in advance is a practical service you can offer from a phone or a computer, without being a marketing expert.
What the VA usually does
In most assistant roles, the client or a designer provides the photos and key messages. The VA:
- Keeps a simple content calendar: what will be posted, where and when.
- Writes or tidies short captions using the client's approved style.
- Schedules posts in advance so they go out on time even when nobody is online.
- Checks comments and messages, replies to simple ones and passes the rest to the client.
- Sends a short weekly report.
Strategy, paid adverts and big campaigns are usually marketing work, which you can learn later in a marketing track.
Build a content calendar
A Google Sheet is enough. Columns: Date, Time, Platform, Topic, Caption, Image link, Status (Draft, Approved, Scheduled, Posted). Plan two weeks ahead. Mix the kinds of posts: products or services, useful tips, customer questions answered, and behind the scenes.
Always get approval before scheduling. Mark each row Approved only after the client says yes.
Scheduling tools
Meta Business Suite is free and lets you schedule posts for Facebook Pages and connected Instagram accounts, from a phone or computer. Other platforms have their own scheduling features, and there are other scheduling tools with free plans. If the client also uses WhatsApp Status, plan those updates in the same calendar and post them by hand at the right time.
